Biography of Pastor Zordel:Although I was often keenly aware of the presence of God, I wasn’t saved until I was 9 years old. The first time I understood the Gospel and grace was in the front room of a widow’s home after school on Good Friday of my ninth year. I received Christ as my own Savior on that afternoon. Most of my life since that day has been lived under His Lordship.
Kristy and I dated in college and we were married in 1971. We have two grown children. Both are spending their lives serving others. Our son, Dan, is a VP for branding and marketing for Answers in Genesis, a ministry promoting creation evangelism. He and Amie have three girls. Our daughter, Kara, is the executive director of Homeless Connect, a division of city government for San Francisco which provides services and resources to the city’s homeless. Kristy and I have been in the pastorate for over 40 years. Kristy loves children and her passion is to lead each of them to Christ and disciple them. She has been trained by CEF as a teacher of teachers. Her teaching focuses on salvation, discipleship and life lessons for growth of saved children. Kristy has led many to the foot of the cross and motivated children and women to follow the Savior. Her giftedness in children’s evangelism and in women’s ministry is a complement to my ministry. I enjoy learning and developing. I have an undergraduate degree and two Master’s degrees, one in theology and one in church health. These enable me to develop churches through preaching to see a clear Biblical goal for the local congregation and a pathway to reach it. I am optimistic about serving as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church because I believe Christ is the Head of the Church. He is the source of all that any local church needs. I am confident in the transforming ministry of the preaching of the Word. That proclaiming of the Word of God and the surrender of the believer to the indwelling Spirit of God always produces discipleship. I have great confidence in the Gospel. It alone is the power of God that brings the lost to Christ and transforms the Lord’s disciple. |
